Rockport Aquarium Contract Approved

Before Hurricane Harvey devastated our community in 2017, Aransas County was home to a small aquarium at the harbor. It was free to the public, showcased local marine life, and was one of the most visited spots in the area.

I’m thrilled to share that we’ve taken a big step forward in bringing it back! The Commissioners Court recently approved a contract with Garza / Bromberger & Associates to design a new aquarium. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with the design team, alongside with Commissioner Rousseau and representatives from the County, Navigation District, and Friends of the Aquarium, to discuss our vision, expectations, and community needs for the project.

I’m very excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait to see a new, modern aquarium return to our harbor, one that honors our coastal heritage and inspires future generations.

Stay tuned!
